Atsuko Sakui's The Process of Reforming: A Study of Tokyo Fashion
Posted on May 26 2013
Atsuko Sakui practices the methods of 'reforming', a fairly new artistic practice in Tokyo. The artist creates wearable art pieces by using recycled vintage kimonos and happi festival garments and all their alluring patterns and rich colors. She transforms these garments into modernized fashion pieces made from these original traditional Japanese garments.
This intimate event will explore Atsuko Sakui’s artistic methods as she shares and demonstrates the steps of her process at Paradigm Gallery + Studio. The audience is encouraged to explore the artist’s inspirations and the effects of 'reforming' across Tokyo through this presentation.
