ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Capturing the joy of reuniting old friends in mediums like grizzly yet defined woodwork and graphic, psychedelic illustration, HAHAxParadigm Class Reunion II showcases the studio work of artists creating for the community.
HAHAxParadigm, an initiative aimed at bringing creators across the world to the local scene in Philadelphia, will celebrate artists Sophie Roach, Isabelle Alford-Lago, and Dennis McNett on May 27 at 5:30pm in the upcoming exhibit HAHAxParadigm Class Reunion II. Participating artists not only take part in community projects and create dialogue about art, but also leave their physical touch on Philadelphia.
For Virginia Beach native Dennis McNett, also known to many as Wolfbat, that touch is graphic and carved from wood, featuring snarling wolves and hissing snakes—violent images created in dainty, looping lines. Illustrator Sophie Roach’s mark is equally graphic, but splashed with psychedelic colors and a barely-restrained joy. The paintings of Isabelle Alford-Lago, focused on humorous but primitive—and overall very human—gorillas, unabashed in their nude confidence.
But wait, there's more! We couldn't have a proper reunion without the whole gang. There will also be a wall of small works by: NDA, Nate Harris, Jason Andrew Turner, Kelly Kozma, Sean Talamini, Ryan Psota, Sean 9 Lugo, Miriam Singer, Paige Smith, My Dog Sighs, Clint Tillman Reid, X-O (Hyland Mather), Mando Marie, Calo, Sarah Bereza, and Vladimir Antaki.
Each artist brought their talents from all over the world to leave a piece of themselves behind in Philadelphia—something the city can remember and celebrate them by.
